Crypto Strategy - Trust the Process
Week 31 of no opinion, just math: The weekly execution log of a quantitative crypto strategy.

1. Market overview
Crypto markets saw renewed volatility ahead of the Federal Reserve policy decision; Bitcoin traded around $64,000 and ended the week slightly lower, while Ethereum ranged roughly between $1,860 and $1,900 and altcoins were mixed amid subdued volumes and risk-off sentiment.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs logged net outflows for much of the week, with only modest inflows on select days, reflecting continued institutional caution.
U.S. lawmakers delayed consideration of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act amid unresolved debates (stablecoins, DeFi classifications, bipartisan support); Europe continued MiCA-related supervisory actions; South Korea confirmed capital gains taxation on crypto holdings above certain thresholds starting in 2027.
Institutional adoption continued via tokenized-asset pilots by global banks under the Bank for International Settlements and the launch of low-fee Ethereum and Solana exchange-traded products by traditional asset managers.
Corporate and security developments included Strategy reporting an $8.2B quarterly loss tied to crypto valuation declines, Coinbase shares falling after a revenue miss, and major security incidents including a Bitcoin wallet vulnerability draining hundreds of BTC and industry-wide exploit losses exceeding $1B in the first half of the year.

New Portfolio update
Ethereum is seeing a notable resurgence in institutional and large-holder demand. U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs posted their strongest inflows in months, with weekly net additions surpassing $100 million and a larger $196 million-plus stretch in mid-July, led by BlackRock’s ETHA and, in several sessions, outpacing comparable Bitcoin fund flows. In parallel, on-chain and exchange data point to renewed whale accumulation and tightening liquid supply, including multi-million-dollar ETH purchases by prominent market participants and sizable withdrawals from Coinbase Prime—signals consistent with investors positioning for a constructive medium-term move.
Fundamentally, Ethereum’s post-upgrade trajectory continues to strengthen the bull case. Staking participation has risen to roughly a third of supply, while scalability improvements have helped push Layer-2 costs to very low levels and support record deposit activity. Attention now turns to the next major protocol milestone, the planned “Glamsterdam” upgrade, expected to target additional Layer-1 scaling, improved parallel execution, and deeper zero-knowledge proof integration. Combined, these drivers reinforce a narrative of improving network economics and usability—supportive of adoption and potentially a recovery rally if risk sentiment remains stable.
4. Multi-year track record
By the end of last week, that hypothetical $1,000 was worth $115,235 in the strategy, versus $8,998 in spot Bitcoin and $14,671 in spot Ethereum.
